The amounts on this board are an indication based on departure delay and flight distance. Whether your flight actually qualifies (for instance under extraordinary circumstances such as extreme weather) is assessed in the claim check.
How often does this board refresh?
Every airport has its own refresh cadence. Schiphol — the busiest airport we monitor — is polled every 3 hours between 06:00 and 23:00; the other 36 European airports refresh every 12 hours with a poll that covers the full departure day. Below the board you can see, per airport, when the last update ran and when the next one is due.
If our data provider hits an API limit, we temporarily slow the refresh rate rather than present stale data as fresh — and we say so visibly on the board. So you always know exactly how current what you are looking at is.
Where does this data come from?
The flights on this board come straight from the airports' own departure boards (FIDS data), served via AeroDataBox — the same source used by aviation apps and sites worldwide. We show departures that are cancelled or running at least 60 minutes late; the indicated amounts are calculated from flight distance using the bands in EU Regulation 261/2004.

What does 'cancelled' mean on this board — and what do you do with it?
'Cancelled' means the airport has reported the departure as scrapped; 'delayed' means departure is running at least an hour behind schedule. The board is an indication, not a legal verdict: whether your flight actually qualifies — and whether an 'extraordinary circumstances' defence holds up — is assessed in the claim check, using METAR weather data from the airport among other evidence.
